Job Description

Rockwell Automation is looking for a Manager, EU Region – Global Product Standards and Regulations (GPSR) with knowledge in one or more of the following areas: industrial automation and control, EU-based regulatory frameworks, processes, member-state organizations, standards development and associated organizations, and international / regional conformity assessment.

The primary focus of this position will be to manage and develop GPSR team members with a mission to support the regulatory and standards activities critical to Rockwell Automation's strategic initiatives in the EU. Exposure to regulatory and standards development work will occur within the context of international and regional organizations such as the IEC, ISO, Digital Europe, CEN, CENELEC, the European Commission, and other industry and technology consortia. The core functions will be:

  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap to address the EU standards and regulatory landscape,
  • Administrative and operational leadership of EU GPSR staff,
  • Analysis of EU regulatory and standards developments especially with respect to market access,
  • Communication of critical milestones, deliverables, and requirements to relevant stakeholders,
  • Risk assessment and activity prioritization, and
  • Resource allocation

The Manager, EU Region will report to the Senior Manager of Global Product Standards and Regulations and work closely with the Director, Technology and Innovation (T&I) to assist with developing an executable standards and regulations risk retirement strategy. The secondary activity will involve international and regional standards development activities commensurate with experience and expertise.

Organization Summary:

GPSR actively monitors and, where possible, influences the development and implementation of domestic and international standards and regulations, communicates the relevant information to the internal stakeholders promptly, and partners with them to develop actionable goals designed to provide optimal market access and mitigate impact to Rockwell Automation. GPSR is dedicated to serving as Rockwell Automation's primary recognized partner and resource for new and emerging local, regional, and international standards and regulations.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, GPSR and will be based in the EU. Rockwell Automation offers hybrid working options. Specific requirements can be discussed. Travel, including international opportunities, based on role responsibilities may be required up to 30% mainly within EU.

What you will do

  • Manages the EU based GPSR team. Provide leadership, support, and professional development for EU based staff.
  • Develops a communications strategy to the internal stakeholders of important external activities in Product Standards, Product Regulations, and Product Compliance schemes that will impact their product offerings.
  • Networks with internal stakeholders to execute the enterprise Standards, Regulatory, and Compliance strategy. Identifying which major external policy setting bodies will directly impact Rockwell Automation and which should be actively participated in.
  • Identifies key stakeholders within Rockwell Automation's business units to determine the importance and impact of the different standards and regulations on Rockwell Automation's products and business.
  • Prioritization of EU-based regulations and standards activities based on risk and impact to the organization.
  • Participates in enterprise strategy discussions and communicates regularly as EU standards and Regulatory frameworks evolve to ensure progress, while being agile change champion
  • Supports participation on identified high-impact bodies and activities and coordinates activities with other regional Rockwell Automation participants and the internal business unit stakeholders.
  • Researches and monitors new and ongoing regulatory and standards development organizations, consortia, and relevant activities to communicate their relevance to Rockwell Automation's business and functions.
  • Tracks and documents activities with others who participate in standards to help ensure sufficient coverage and prevent overlap.
  • Supports Rockwell Automation Government Relations teams to assess and provide analysis of high-impact activities.
  • Supports standards development activities where required.
  • Builds and maintains professional contacts with other key organizations, business partners, and industry experts within and outside the company to identify areas of common interest.
  • Conducts formal and informal internal educational activities as appropriate. Develops informative materials and artifacts pertaining to relevant Standards and Regulations within the focus area or region.

Skills you have

  • Experience in People Management, Professional Development, and Mentorship
  • 10+ years of experience of working cross functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
  • 10+ years of experience delivering cross functional project results.
  • Experience in EU regulatory or standards development within manufacturing automation or a related field is required.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Risk Assessment and Risk Management methodology knowledge.

Basic qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Business, Economics, Political Science, International Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working with EU-based government agencies or experience in regulatory or compliance / conformity activities is desirable.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the various standards and regulations bodies and their processes.
  • An understanding of standards, regulations, and the associated international and domestic organizations.
  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation's products and associated businesses.
  • Knowledge industrial automation products and offerings.
  • Multilingual foreign language abilities strongly preferred.
